Map incidents, not just walls
We start with receiving, shipping, pedestrian doors, overhead doors, yard access, inventory movement, cash or cage areas, and office transitions. Each important event should remain visible across more than one useful angle where the site allows it. That may mean pairing a broad overview with a tighter identification view instead of expecting one high-mounted camera to do both jobs.
Plan for height, lighting, lifts, and cable distance
Warehouses introduce lift requirements, long runs, metal racking, bright dock doors, dark aisles, vibration, dust, and restricted work zones. We review mounting access and cable pathways before pricing. Network switches, fibre links, conduit, weatherproof boxes, and surge protection are considered where distance or exposure makes a basic home-style layout unsuitable.
Set retention around how the business investigates
The recorder is sized around camera count, resolution, frame rate, recording mode, and the number of days the operation realistically needs. Managers receive named views and controlled access based on responsibility. Playback and export are tested with the people who will handle shipping disputes, inventory incidents, after-hours entries, or requests from insurers and police.
