The problem
The roof sits on steel rafters about 11 m (35 ft) up, and trucks and forklifts were working the shipping zones the whole time. The owner could not stop operations for us. Large HVAC ducts also blocked the view from the spots where the cameras would normally go.
What we did
We pulled Cat6 from scissor lifts across the live shipping zones, fed the long runs through the building’s structural conduit and did the heaviest pulls over a weekend. Where the ductwork was in the way, we used pendant mounts to drop the cameras below it. Three days went to cable and lifts, two to mounting, the NVR stack and fine-tuning every angle.
Operations never stopped while we worked.
High ceilings and ductwork
Mounting straight on the rafters often puts ducts, lights or racking between the camera and the aisle. When that happens we drop the camera on a pendant mount to a height where the view is clear. On open floor space a 180° panoramic dome covers a wide stretch from one point.
Long runs and power
Warehouse runs are long, and long runs on copper-clad aluminium are the usual reason cameras reboot at night. We use solid copper Cat6 only, put a switch or fibre in anything past 100 m and size the PoE switch for every camera with its infrared on.
Docks, yard and plates
A wide yard view will not read a licence plate. If you need plates, the gate lane gets its own camera, angled 30 to 45 degrees down, with WDR so headlights at night do not white it out. Dock doors are covered from inside, where the trailer and the person loading it are in the same shot.

Can you install warehouse cameras without stopping operations?

Only with a camera set up for it: one lane, the right distance, angled down and with WDR for headlights. A wide yard overview will not read plates reliably.
