The problem
A high-end room in a heritage building, with exposed brick and decorative plaster ceilings. Conduit and surface raceway were not allowed anywhere, and the owner wanted zero exposed wire.
What we did
We came in from below. Cable ran through the basement joists and up through hollow voids in the walls, then came out right where each camera meets a structural wood beam. Nothing shows in the dining room.
Wiring a finished or heritage room
When conduit and raceway are off the table, we go in from below: through the basement joists, up through hollow wall voids and out right where the camera mounts. It takes longer than stapling cable to the ceiling, and it is the only way an exposed-brick room still looks the same afterward.
Cash, doors and deliveries
Start with the register, the cash line and the doors. We cover the cash line without a close view of the PIN pad, put a camera on each entrance and check the night picture at the back lane before we leave.
Kitchens and fit-outs
Heat, steam and grease shorten a camera’s life, so kitchen cameras go where they can see the pass and the back door, not over the line. On a new fit-out, call us before the ceiling closes: running cable then costs less than fishing it later.
